Hi, I’m Erin Kurt, wife, mother of two, and a Stress-Free Parenting coach to working mothers, author and speaker. In my “past life” I’ve been a nanny and a high-esteemed teacher in five different countries, and have worked with kids from toddlers to teenagers. I’ve also taught children from all sorts of backgrounds…literally thousands of children.
“ I believe every mom wants to enjoy the time they spend with their kids and feel more confident when problems occur. They also want more “ me time” and to be able relax and unwind at the end of a long day instead of collapsing on the sofa. Sometimes they need a little help to achieve those goals. That’s where I come in.”
I developed my parenting and coaching techniques while teaching some truly difficult kids during my 16 years as a teacher. Using the same four steps time and time again, I found I was able to transform even the most challenging children into children who wanted to behave, be kind, respectful and considerate, and who were incredibly happy and self-confident.
Today, I help working moms resolve their biggest questions, from “Am I a good Mom?”, “How do I be a good mom AND a good employee?”, “Is my child happy?” to “How can I successfully juggle everything and make parenting more fun and less stressful?”
My mission is to give wor king moms the tools and str ategies they need to feel mor e in control, parent without yelling, and focus on what tr uly matter s: spending quality time with their kids.
My strategies are simple to use. You don’t have to be a genius or a psychologist to learn and use them in your daily life. Instead of offering theories to apply by trial and error, I focus on practical parenting tools and techniques that give quick, powerful, and lasting results.
You see when I was a school teacher I was forced to develop a strategy for teaching all kinds of kids. Kids with both small and severe behaviour problems, learning disabilities, and giftedness. I taught kids from toddlers to teens, from every socio-economic situation in 5 different countries.
The first year of my career was awful!
The kids didn’t respect me, didn’t listen to me, didn’t like me and we all were definitely not enjoying our time together!
There came a point in that year when I had to decide whether I was going to quit or figure out a way to make it work.
After much thought and contemplation I came up with a 4-step technique that I was going to use over and over again until I saw real results. To my amazement, I saw incredible change in just one day! I also found out what the kids needed from me in terms of their emotional needs and was able to come up with a simple way to ensur e that I had a deep, emotional bond with each and every child.
After I had classroom management under control and the kids and I were in LOVE with one another I was able to focus all my efforts on being the best teacher I could be.
BUT, I had a big problem.
I had absolutely no energy left at the end of the day.
I was completely spent.
I would arrive home and tell my husband not to talk to me for at least 30 minutes. After those 30 minutes I took a nap. After the nap, I would make dinner while snapping at my husband every so often.
Then, on the weekends, I would break out in hives. One year my lips actually swelled to triple their size and the whole right side of my body went numb. This scared me to the core. I went to the doctor and he said words I never wanted to hear, “This could be the start of Multiple Sclerosis”.
After two MRI’s, being injected with blue dye, and several other tests, the doctors concluded that my numbness was not a sign of MS, it was a sign of over whelming str ess. I knew I HAD to take this seriously now. My body was telling me something needed to change and my husband was telling me I needed to change.
So, being the type of person I am, I read loads of books, wrote in my journal and was determined to figure out a way to make my life as balanced and stress-free as possible.
I knew that for my life to continuously be stress-free I would need to have a consistent tool to keep me on track.
I created what I called, “My Life Circle Tool”. Each and every month I used this tool to ensure that all of my emotional, spiritual, mental and physical needs were being taken care of .
In fact 8 days out of every month, I fed my body and soul with revitalizing activities. I came up with a step-by-step process for how to lead a balanced life and now teach my “Life Balance Formula” to working moms who want to be a great mom AND have time for themselves.
Fast forward to today and I run an international company called ErinParenting (where you are right now!), write for top websites and magazines on Stress-Free Parenting and Living a Balanced, Stress-Free life. I am the author of the internationally popular book, “Juggling Family Life: A Step-By-Step Guide to Stress-Free Parenting”, the Mindful Family Expert on the Mindful Living Network, and speaker and trainer to psychologists and corporate parents.
